CAP Youth Empowerment Institute Kenya, is supported by MasterCard Foundation, was established to provide Basic Employability Skills Training (BEST) for disadvantaged youth in the society with particular focus on women to get equitable, qualitative learning and access to promising labour market oriented opportunities, savings and credit that support their pathways to safe and positive futures. 
The key purpose of the organization is to assist 10,000 disadvantaged youth to make informed choices, develop labour-market oriented employability skills and access job placements, savings and enterprise development support. 
About the position 
We are urgently looking for a Trainer who has skills and experience in any of the two (2) fields mentioned above. 
The incumbent will be posted in one of the CAP Centers currently operational as a Trainer. 
The right candidate must be self-driven and must work with minimal Supervision. 
Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Developing, customizing and delivering curriculum.
  • Theoretical and practical instruction in the area of specialization;
  • preparing and maintaining of schemes of work, lesson plans, lesson notes, teaching and learning materials and trainee records;
  • carrying out trainee assessment; ensuring proper care and maintenance of tools and equipment;
  • conducting co-curricular activities; maintain trainee discipline; guidance and counseling of trainees;
  • Monitoring trainees on field work and industrial attachment and compiling progress reports. 
  • Assist students get internships and placements opportunities.
  • To source for guest lectures and organize field visits for the trainees.
  • To help the trainees to find internship and employment opportunities.
Skills Required 
  • Excellent Presentation skills. 
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills. 
  • Networking skills a must.
  • Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written.
  • Proven Carpentry skills. 
  • Willingness to work in tough and competitive environment. 
Requirements  
  • One (1) year working experience in any of the two fields highlighted. 
  • Aged 25- 30 years. 
  • Must be mature and with the right attitude.
  • KCSE and Relevant Diploma.
  • Must have basic computer skills. 
  • Must have passion of working with young people.

University of Kabianga (UoK), formerly a Constituent College of Moi University is located in Kericho West District of Kericho County.

It became a fully-fledged public University following the award of a Charter by His Excellency the President Hon. Mwai Kibaki on 1st March, 2013 in line with the Universities Act, 2012.

Duties and Responsibilities

Requirements
 
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
  • Be a holder of an earned Ph.D from a recognized university and be at the level of at least Associate Professor;
  • Have at least ten (10) years of academic and research experience in a senior leadership role in an academic institution or research organization;
  • Should have served substantively with demonstrable results at least as a Principal of a Constituent University College or as a Deputy Vice-Chancellor of a University, or in other similar institutions at comparable levels for at least three (3) years;
  • Should have published in recognized peer reviewed journals in their areas of specialization;
  • Should demonstrate understanding of Government financial and fiscal policies, strategic planning and Vision 2030, human resource management, procurement and asset disposal requirements;
  • Have an excellent understanding of the current trends in University education and training in Kenya and globally, the legal requirements governing University education, and a broad awareness of the factors and conditions shaping the development of University education in Kenya;
  • Be a leader with potential to plan, develop and implement academic programmes and develop strategic institutional linkages;
  • Must demonstrate effective communication, persuasive and interpersonal skills, as well as strategic, logical and sound decision making ability;
  • Have an understanding of the importance of networking, fundraising and resource mobilization in the development of the University; and
  • Be of the highest ethical standards, integrity, accountability and professionalism, teamwork and good stewardship and comply with the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.

Institutional Profile

Chuka University became the ninth Public University in Kenya after it was granted a Charter by His Excellency Hon. Mwai Kibaki, the President and Commander in-Chief of the Defense Forces of the Republic of Kenya on 8th January, 2013. 
The Main Campus of the University is located within Chuka Municipality in Meru South District, Eastern Kenya. 
It is situated approximately 186 km from Nairobi along Nariobi-Meru Highway on the slopes of the snow-capped Mt Kenya at an altitude of approximately 2,000 meters above sea level.
 
The University focus is to be a Centre of Excellence in Environmental and Renewable Energy Studies.

ICAP Grants Accountant and Training Coordinator Jobs in Kisumu


ICAP of Columbia University is working in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation and the Ministry of Medical Services to strengthen HIV Care and Treatment services at provincial and district health facilities.

This program is part of a US Government initiative against HIV in Kenya that receives funding from PEPFAR through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

1. Grants Accountant
Location: Kisumu with frequent travel to ICAP-supported facilities in Nyanza
 
Overall Job Function:
 
The Grants Accountant has overall responsibility for the implementation and improvement of the grants management component of the ICAP program, which is designed to provide financial and technical assistance to the host country’s health systems with the aim of improving infrastructure necessary to support HIV Care and Treatment programs.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • To reconcile cash and bank accounts
  • To maintain accurate bookkeeping records
  • To prepare and enter transactions into paper-based and computer accounting systems
  • To validate invoices and ensure timely and accurate payment of those expenses
  • To oversee petty cash management, including a daily physical cash count and reconciliation and accountability of any unexplained discrepancies
  • To monitor and ensure timely clearance of travel advances
  • To oversee payroll preparation on a monthly basis, including social insurance and professional tax payments and records
  • To provide technical assistance to subcontracted site partners on invoice preparation, reconciliation of subcontract funds, and documentation of subcontract expenses
  • To work in collaboration with country office staff in oversight of subcontracts and of personnel related work expenses
  • To ensure adherence to ICAP policies and procedures and donor financial management requirements
  • To perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting, economics, or finance
  • Professional accounting qualifications CPA III, ACCA
  • 5+ years relevant experience
  • Strong supervisory and management skills
  • Computer literacy in Word and Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Computer literacy in Quick books and other accounting packages
  • Facility for team-oriented work while maintaining a strong sense of independent initiative
  • Knowledge of working with USG funded projects

The Rural Women Program Monitoring and Learning Coordinator will be responsible for managing CARE’s Rural Women Program work in Somalia in a defined geographical area.

Specific responsibilities:

S/he will be responsible for developing education strategies, advising project teams, monitoring and reporting on progress, and coordinating and liaising with staff, partners, government ministry representatives and other stakeholders.

Specific responsibilities:  
Technical support, assessments and baselines, monitoring systems/tools and their use, implementation of secondary and teacher training activities, donor reporting and collaboration with MoE officials, consortium staff, community education committees, school heads, staff and other stakeholders.

Requirements:  
  • Master’s degree in Education or relevant field. Minimum 3 years’ experience working in Somalia or in the Horn of Africa in child-friendly and girls’ secondary education programming with partners. 
  • Knowledge of USAID, EC and other rules & regulations, contract management, technical and managerial skills.

International Hire - Puntland Education Project Coordinator for EC Consortium
Based in Garowe1 Puntland

The Puntland Education Project Coordinator will provide overall strategy leadership and direction for a three-year EC-funded project, managing a consortium comprising CARE, Save the Children, ADRA and VU Amsterdam University. 
S/he will work closely with the MoE in Puntland, consortium partners and other key stakeholders, overseeing project delivery, contract management and donor reporting.

Specific responsibilities: 
Project delivery (define working arrangements for consortium, monitor project activities and progress, oversee technical support to MoE, manage assessments, baselines, evaluations), consortium management (strategic guidance to and coordination with stakeholders, coordinate project management committee, representation), contract management, staff management (of technical assistants within MoE and senior project officer), monitoring and reporting.

International Hire - Pastoralist Technical Advisor for Consortium 
Based in Hargeisa, Somaliland

CARE and six other NGQs (Oxfam, WVI, ADRA, DRC, COOPI and ACF) in Somalia are initiating a consortium to build resilience among pastoralist, agro-pastoralist and peri-urban livelihoods, as a response to multiple droughts and last year’s famine. 
  • The position will provide technical lead in pastoralist resilience in the consortium, during inception and implementation. 
  • The position is initially for six months, based in Hargeisa, with travel to other parts of Somalia and Nairobi, with the intention to extend for full duration of program (3-5 years). 
  • S/he will provide technical support to consortium, ensuring innovation, harmonization of approaches, technical quality and coordination.
Specifics responsibilities: 
  • Program design (develop needs analysis and evidence base, draw lessons from consortium partners), technical support and program quality (provide regular updates/reports to CoP, develop and support M&E mechanisms), learning and policy development (support innovation, knowledge management, input on regional and global policy work).
Requirements:  
  • Master’s degree on livestock management, rangeland/dryland management, natural resource management or rural livelihoods. 
  • Five years’ experience in pastoralist programming in Horn of Africa and three years’ experience in advisory role in NGO or similar. 
  • Technical experience in NRM, animal husbandry, veterinary practices, livestock marketing, income/asset diversification, drought cycle management and pastoralist budget and resource management practices.

This position will provide overall leadership for the implementation of the Consortium, overseeing the establishment and functioning of a joint Program Quality Unit to ensure harmonization and quality of interventions. 
S/he will be responsible for developing the overall program approach, guided by the proposal, bringing together technical expertise from each agency, and developing harmonized ways of working, tools and manuals.
