The Association seeks to
recruit an innovative, dynamic and results oriented professional to fill
the position of Executive Officer who will be based at its head office
in Kericho.
Executive Officer
The Position
Reporting to the Chairman
of the Association, the Executive Officer will provide leadership and
be responsible for promotion and coordination of issues of common
interest in industrial relations, cultivation & processing of tea,
advising on topical issues affecting the industry and implementing the
Executive Committee decisions.
Key Responsibilities
The jobholder will:
a) Drive and coordinate
all negotiations on behalf of the Association; this includes negotiation
on Terms and Conditions of employment, Recognition Agreements,
Collective Bargaining Agreements and lobby relevant stakeholders on
behalf of the Association
b) Provide a strong focal
point for a consensual approach to current external challenges and
spearhead the Association responses including amongst others; levies,
Tea Cess and Legislative developments.
c) Establish, maintain, and strengthen linkages for collaboration and networking amongst members and other stakeholders.
d) On behalf of the
Association, maintain close liaison (including official representation
where applicable) with key stakeholders such as the Federation of Kenya
Employers, National Industrial Training Authority, EATTA and the Tea
Board of Kenya.
e) Monitor economic,
regulatory and other related trends in order to determine their
potential impact on plans and operations of the Association.
f) Develop and nurture business relationships that can be leveraged in order to achieve the Association’s objectives.
g) Establish relationships with all the existing related parties and new parties of interest to the industry.
h) Oversee the overall management of the Association in order to ensure that all key performance requirements are met.
i) Establish appropriate processes and tools for planning, budgeting, reporting and monitoring progress.
j) Monitor the market activities in order to identify new business opportunities.
k) Be responsible for the
recruitment, performance management, and identification of training
needs and career development initiatives for staff members working in
the Association.
l) Monitor, guide, report
and coordinate the Association approach to a sustainable CSR strategy.
This includes institutions owned or managed by the Association.
The person
- Bachelor’s degree. Qualification and experience in Law and or Human Resource Management is desirable.
- At least seven (7) years management experience, five of which should be in a Senior Management level in business associations, business advocacy groups or equivalent organizations.
- Strong knowledge of Kenya Labour Laws, Agricultural Laws, International Labour Standards, Industrial Relations Practice in Kenya, Industry Standards and Trends in the Labour Market.
- Energetic, entrepreneurial, self driven and of impeccable integrity.
- Innovative with the ability to identify and harness new and existing opportunities to grow the businesses.
- Conversant with economic, political and social development issues at national, regional and international levels.
- Possesses excellent managerial and organizational development skills with the ability to provide focused leadership.
- Communicates clearly and in a concise manner (both orally and in writing).
- Possesses strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to network and develop strong business relationship
