Medecins Sans Frontieres Belgium Deputy Technical & Logistics Coordinator Job in Hargeysa, Somaliland

Job Title: Deputy Technical & Logistics Coordinator (CoTL)

Duty Station / Mission: Hargeysa, Somaliland/MSF Belgium (with frequent visits to Somalia)

Duration: 12 months fixed term contract (with possibility of extension subject to operations)

Background of the position:

This position will serve to deputise the CoTL, Somalia/ Somaliland mission, in supporting, coordinating, planning & assessment, security analysis and team management of the logistics department in the mission.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will report to the CoTL, and shall perform, but not limited to, the following tasks:

Provide accurate and autonomous Logistics support, planning and implementation
Efficiently and proactively participate in any emergency intervention
Observes and defends ethical principles and neutrality of MSF internally and in meeting/negotiations with external actors
Weekly/monthly reporting on all logistics activities
Proper management and follow up of MSF assets/consumables
HR support, coaching and management in collaboration with the field supervisors
Assist to implement/assess the security situation/context according to mission’s policy
Any other additional duties given by the supervisor in order to allow the mission to function efficiently

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education: Degree in Engineering or related technical field with excellent knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word & Outlook) and other software packages.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional/field experience in a similar position, especially in a context such as Somalia and with good knowledge of local context. NGO experience, preferably with MSF will be an added advantage.

Skills: Ability to multi-task and work autonomously & efficiency; Ability to organize & prioritise workload independently; Taking initiative; diplomatic, honest & polite; Strong management/leadership skill; Good communication & reporting skills; Good negotiation skills and able to work with people of different cultural backgrounds.

Language: Proficiency in written and spoken English & Somali.
