ALIN Knowledge Mobilisation Specialist Job in Kenya

The Arid Lands Information Network (ALIN), an International NGO whose Mission is to improve the livelihoods of arid lands communities in East Africa through delivery of practical information using modern technologies wishes to recruit a dynamic, energetic and committed person to join its team as Knowledge Mobilisation Specialist.

Key duties and responsibilities

Reporting to the Regional Director, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting and building
communities’ abilities to manage arid conditions through a knowledge-based approach.

In addition, s/he will perform the following roles;

Lead the mobilization of knowledge using information products to support improved agricultural practices and environmental management by communities
Develop community-driven action plans for knowledge uptake by communities
Undertake baseline and other surveys to ensure delivery of required knowledge and information to communities
Facilitate focal groups and CBO engagement through Maarifa Centres
Build and maintain a partnership mechanism with key organization stakeholders.
Participate in resource mobilization.

Required qualifications and experience

Masters degrees in Agriculture Extension, Environmental Sciences. Masters degree in Development Studies with bias towards agriculture or environment.
Understanding and experience of planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of people focused development projects and programs.
Proven experience in writing concepts and proposals
Qualifications and experience in Peer to Peer approaches and Training of Trainers (TOT) is an added advantage.
Experience in development networking within civil society and between NGOs and government.
A minimum of 5 years in a results oriented management position in a development focused civil society organization
An effective team leader and team player.
Good command of MS Office packages and Internet usage.
